Two Weeks Post Graduation

It's been two weeks since Chris graduated. We played for a week and then we started our new routine.

On Saturday the 10th we continued to celebrate Chris' graduation with our parents. We barbecued, ate cake, and had fun. Ainsley played catch with her grandpas, Kaylee played dolls with my mom, and Landon played with anyone who wanted to hold him. The next day was Mother's Day. This was the first year since we moved to Texas that we were able to spend Mother's Day with either of our moms. We barbecued again and then we had to say goodbye to Chris' parents - my mom and dad stayed a week with us.

On Tuesday the 13th Kaylee graduated from Busy Bees. Ms. Erin (Quinn's mom) made all of the little Busy Bees graduation gowns which turned out very cute because she's awesome at everything crafty. Ms. Teresea (Max's mom) planned the graduation party and gave all the Busy Bees their diplomas.

While my parents were here, Ainsley took a few days off from school. We spent most of our time close to home but did take a trip into Austin one day. We spent the afternoon at the Austin Children's Museum and went to Hula Hut for dinner. My parents loved Hula Hut so I'm thinking it's going to have to become a tradition when we have family in town. More creamy jalapeƱo for me! Yum! Yum!

The Friday before my parents left, Chris and I were supposed to go out on a date. We ended up at urgent care with Landon instead because he had a 104.5 fever. Fortunately it was just some random virus. Unfortunately Chris and I didn't get to go to the Cheesecake Factory and mini golfing.

On Saturday we said goodbye to my parents. It was sad to have all of our family gone but we're looking forward to visiting them in July. Also, on Saturday night Chris and his friend Dave made a run to the Cheesecake Factory so all was not lost from our date. We ended up with the best part - dessert!

Ainsley finished her last game of T-ball this week and ended up with a first place trophy. It was definitely a case of the underdogs coming out on top. Most of her team (including her) started out not knowing a whole lot about T-ball. They all improved so much during the season. I'm happy the season is over. Ainsley had a lot of fun but Chris and I ended up not being too thrilled with the way the league was run. Oh well, at least Ainsley enjoyed it!

There's one more week of school left before summer vacation! Ainsley informed me it's going to be all play since it's her last week of school. It's already hot and in the 90's here, so we'll be spending the next few months at the library (nice and air conditioned) and our community pool.

And, last but not least, that random picture of Landon kissing a watermelon is because he's been kissing everything that he loves lately. So cute!

We Have Ourselves a Graduate!

It's been four long years but the day has finally come. Chris graduated on Friday! Both sets of parents flew to Texas to join the celebration and Friday afternoon we all drove to San Marcos to cheer for our daddy, son, and husband; it was a festive occasion. We ate an early dinner at Logan's and then hurried off to campus to take pictures of our graduate. After that we waved goodbye to Chris as he left to receive his diploma.

Kaylee was just barely born when Chris went back to school. It's hard to believe he's been in school all four years of her life. Both Kaylee and Landon don't know any different and I'm sure Ainsley doesn't really remember either.

We are so grateful to our parents for the love, support and help they've given us along the way. We've had some very difficult times and couldn't have done it without them. Both sets of parents have been incredibly supportive.

I'm very grateful to Chris for enduring everything he went through. He was working full time and going to school full time almost the entire four years. Plus, he was trying hard to be a good husband and father while getting his homework done. He stopped working full time and went to part time when he started having to commute to San Marcos for class twice a week. After driving to San Marcos Friday afternoon I don't really know how he survived going that distance twice a week the last two semesters. It's an hour and fifteen minute drive each way and took two tanks of gas a week. No wonder he called it the "San Marcos Death March."

We do have lots of good memories of the last four years. Just because there were hard times doesn't mean we didn't have a lot of fun too. We did what we felt was right for our family and Chris and I grew closer in the process.

When this all started it seemed like it would take an eternity. I think in Chris' opinion it did take an eternity but to me it's crazy how time flies. I knew that as I was feeling this would never end, I'd eventually look back and see what a small portion of time it really took.

We are excited to start our next chapter. Chris was hired at National Instruments as a Programmer Analyst and will start working for them on May 19th. Hooray!
