Webelo and Arrow of Light

At the end of May Landon received his Webelo and his Arrow of Light. The Arrow of Light crossover ceremony was pretty cool.

We just registered Landon for Boy Scouts a couple days ago. It's hard to believe our cub is now a Boy Scout. He's super excited that he gets to go to his first Boy Scout camp with his Grandpa Gadd when he's visiting his grandparents in July. Landon really wants to be an Eagle Scout, so we're going to make every effort to help him achieve that goal. You've got this Landon! And, a big congratulations on accomplishing so much in Cub Scouts!

Ainsley's and Kylie's Photoshoot

After Ainsley saw Kaylee's pictures, she decided she wanted a photoshoot too. Her friend Kylie came along as well. Cute girls!

Kaylee's Photoshoot

I've been trying to talk the kids into letting me practice my photography on them, but none of them have been willing. Finally Kaylee agreed to come along for a photoshoot and had a lot of fun in the process. Also, I promised to take her out again sans braces. Hopefully that will happen before the end of the year. She sure is a cutie!

The Leftovers: February - May

Our family took part in some biggish events from February to May, but we were also kept busy by lots of smaller affairs.

February

In February the high school choir students at Gateway hosted a Make-a-Wish send off for some kiddos who were headed to Disney World. Ainsley was Belle again and had the privilege of telling a little girl whose favorite princess is Belle that she was headed to Disney World.

Also in February, I received some pretty Valentine's Day flowers and got to have a fun girl's night out with some ladies in our neighborhood.

March

In March, Ainsley became a licensed driver. She drove fabulously during her driving test. She also participated in a youth conference where she got to make princess wigs for young cancer patients.

Landon sang in his Pre-UIL choir concert, there were lots of soccer games, and Uncle John flew in for a weekend to surprise the kids. He was in the car with me when I picked up Landon and Kaylee from school, and then he surprised Ainsley that evening at her soccer game.

April

In April, Ainsley was inducted into the National Honor Society, and the girls and I went to see The Phantom of the Opera. It was Kaylee's first Broadway musical, and she loved it.

May

In May, Kaylee was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society and was elected president. Lots of choir events took place in May. The first was Music in the Parks. The middle school and high school choirs went to Six Flags San Antonio this year. I volunteered to chaperone but was not looking forward to going. It was supposed to be hot, hot, hot, and I wasn't sure if I was going to have anyone to hang out with at the park. It was super hot, but the day ended up being pretty fun. I carpooled with another mom and we hung out with her daughter, Ainsley, and some of their friends at Six Flags. I also rode huge roller coasters for the first time in many moons. The choirs performed fantastically and won several awards. Ainsley's choir received first in their division. Kaylee's girls choir won first in their division, middle school grand champions, and they were the only middle school choir to receive a superior rating. Earlier in the year Kaylee's choir took Sweepstakes in their UIL competition which means they received the highest rating possible in every aspect of the contest. Those girls can sing!

Right after Music in the Parks was the choir Pops concert. The theme was video games and all three kids sang at this concert. It was a fun night. Next came middle/high school choir awards. Ainsley was voted choir student of the year. She also found out she's starting term two of high school choir president this coming fall.

Landon played on a volleyball team March through May. It was a co-ed team, but he ended up being the only boy on the team. Actually, I think he was the only boy in the entire league. He knew there was a good chance that would happen, but it didn't stop him from playing. I coached and Kaylee and another older sister on the team assistant coached. We pretty much lost all of our games, but the kids on the team were super fun. It was a good season. Kaylee isn't in the picture because she was at school getting ready for choir awards.

School years seem to get busier and busier as the kids get older. I'm so so happy it's finally summer vacation. I'm not so happy that June is pretty much over. Where does the time go?
