Utah

A couple of weeks after our California trip we headed to Utah for graduation. We stayed with my cousin Kelli and her family. She has a daughter Kaylee's age, a son Landon's age, and a baby that Ainsley was crazy about. Needless to say, we had a ton of fun. The kids and I arrived a day earlier than Chris and our parents, so we had a full day to play with Kelli and her kids before the graduation festivities began. That morning we went to a children's museum in Salt Lake City, and that afternoon we had a picnic in the park. The kids had a blast!

While we were at the museum Landon and Luke were doing their own thing, but once we left, they were pretty much inseparable. Kaylee and Mindi were also two peas in a pod and Ainsley was absolutely in love with baby Ty.
By the third day she was complaining of a backache, so I told her she probably shouldn't carry Ty as much. Her response . . . "But Mom, I can't help it!"

Graduation was Friday the 14th, and the last day we were with Kelli's family we went to Temple Square with her family, my parents, and Chris' parents. I've been wanting to take my kids to Temple Square for a long time and was happy to finally get the chance. They loved it!

Our last night in Utah we stayed with my Aunt Becky's family. They live close to the SLC airport, so we were happy to be able to spend some time with them and be close to the airport. Our time with them definitely wasn't long enough. We had so much fun with their family and were all sad to say goodbye after our short stay.

At the airport the next morning the girls were moping, and Landon was asking when we get to go back to Utah. We all had such a great time. Even Chris had a blast and admitted he wouldn't mind living there. I was pretty surprised but not completely shocked. Utah is such a pretty state, and we have so much family there. It really would be fun to live closer to everyone.

Back to School

Today was Kaylee's first day of Kindergarten and Ainsley's first day of third grade. Kaylee was up before 6am. Ainsley and Landon weren't far behind her. We were all up before the alarm. It wasn't so bad though. We didn't have to rush to get ready, and the kids all enjoyed a leisurely breakfast. I think this school year is going to bring some challenges, but the first day was definitely a success. Right now Ainsley is happy to be back in school, and Kaylee is excited to be starting school. Let's hope it lasts!

California 2009 - Part VIIII

Six Flags

Our final big outing before heading back to Texas was a trip to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. It was a fun day and a great finish to our summer adventures in California!

California 2009 - Part VIII

Lawrence Hall of Science and
Chabot Space and Science Center

These were two museums that our ACM membership admitted us into for free. We went to the Lawrence Hall of Science while Chris was still in California, and my dad and I took the kids to the Chabot Space and Science Center one day while my mom took a break.

There was so much to do at the Lawrence Hall of Science. From The Slime Game to dung beetle races and from the earthquake simulator to soil erosion, there was something for everyone. The kids and the adults all had a ton of fun.

The Chabot Space and Science Center was another fun place. Our entrance into the museum included a planetarium show and lots of astronaut training. My kiddos really enjoy going to museums, which is great because I do too!
