Unaccompanied Minors

On Tuesday I put Ainsley and Kaylee on a nearly four hour flight to California as Unaccompanied Minors. I felt a little sad seeing them off, but I was more excited for them than anything. What an adventure my nine and six year old were about to have! There is no way I could have even thought about sending them alone a few years ago, but as they've gotten older it's been so much fun to see them try new things.

When the girls were called to board they both clung to me a little and were a bit teary eyed, but the flight attendant whisked them away so quickly there really wasn't time for sadness. It was perfect.

As their plane left the terminal Landon exclaimed, "I miss my friends!"  But, that didn't last very long. He's definitely enjoying being an only child for a week.

Landon's Latest Obsession

Our family has been playing Super Mario Galaxy 2 almost every day since it arrived at our house. It's a fun game that we all enjoy, but Landon has taken it one step further. He spends his days floating around our house as a Blue Luma requesting star bits for his meals. He's given up his red Batman shirt for blue clothes (any piece of blue clothing will do) and I am now being called Blue Mommy, haha.

I'm a bit sad that his Batman phase has come to a close. He wrote his name as Luma for the first time yesterday. His cape and mask hang from a chair near his bed. They're used occasionally, but not like before. Lumas are fun, but I miss having a super hero hanging out at our house ready to protect our family from unseen dangers.

So long Batlan . . .

Puddle Jumping

When school's out for the summer, and it's too stormy to go swimming . . .
