Ocean Beach and Tide Pools

We're home from California wishing we were out of this vicious heat and back on the Pacific Coast. I've decided I've had just about enough of Texas and its weather. I'm ready to move on. Washington State and the mountains of Arizona (think Flagstaff) are my top two choices at the moment (only because I know there's no chance of moving back to the California coast), but unfortunately the work seems to be in Texas. What manner of cruelty is this?

Okay, on to more pleasant things, like how much fun we had this summer! One of our first outings was to Ocean Beach to look for sand dollars and then down the coast to visit the tide pools at Moss Beach. I was hoping to find whole sand dollars for the 13 girls I teach at church. I found two. What we did find was a giant headless elephant seal. Yucky.

After picnicking at Moss Beach we went exploring. We missed low tide by a couple of hours, so we didn't see a whole lot, but there were a bunch of harbor seals on the beach. Landon and Kaylee were thrilled when they witnessed a baby seal scoot into the water after lounging on the sand.
