Cub Scouts

Landon started Cub Scouts when he turned eight last year. Grandma and Grandpa bought him a complete uniform for his birthday and he was super excited to start earning awards. Some of the bigger events that have taken place thus far include, participating in his first Pinewood Derby in January. He and his good friend Shane built their cars together. He marched to the state capitol in February (Report to State). Because their troop brought an American flag, they were able to take turns marching at the front of the parade. All American flags had to be in front.

He went to his first Blue and Gold dinner in March where he received his Wolf. He also brought a cake he'd decorated for dessert. All the cakes received awards. His was most creative.

His first Cub Scout day camp is coming up in June. It gets so hot here. I'm a little worried that it will be somewhat miserable (I've heard it's miserable), but he's excited to at least give it a try. We found out at the Blue and Gold dinner that the Cub Scout program is changing pretty drastically in June. We're happy he received his Wolf before the program changes. He really wanted to get an award called the World Conservation Award, but we're not sure if he has time to earn it before the changes take place. That's alright though, I think the new program is inspired and will be just what he needs.
