Sweet Addiction

I am so addicted to these sweet little sugar coated eggs its ridiculous. Every year when Mini Eggs arrive in stores I'm sure to be the first to pick up a bag or two or three, or four, well you get the point. This year was a little different. I've been eating pretty healthy lately and wasn't really craving them but one day while I was at Walmart I couldn't resist. They were only $2 a bag! I couldn't believe it. I've never seen them for less than $2.33 a bag when they're on sale - except at the end of the season when they are so hard to find. I brought them home and dug in that night. Because I hadn't been eating too many sweets I ended up with a horrendous stomach ache. It was one of those stomach aches that makes you wish you'd just puke because you know you'll feel better after. Instead of puking I just went to bed feeling terrible and swearing off the Mini Eggs. Except when I woke up the next morning I was feeling just fine and my Mini Egg addicted brain decided it would be wonderful to have some more.

A few days later I was at Sam's Club and saw a 40oz bag of my sweet addiction. It was even cheaper than $2 a bag to buy them this way! With three little kids and one big kid begging for them once again I couldn't resist. I figured they'd last the rest of the season and I'd have enough to spare for the Easter Bunny. I don't know what I was thinking. In less than a week they're gone. All 40oz of them. I didn't eat the entire bag myself but it was enough that I should probably be really embarrassed even writing about it.

I am now pimply, noticing my jeans are fitting a little tighter, and sick of my lack of self control. I'm really swearing off the Mini Eggs this time . . . but probably not until sometime around the middle of April!

Tornado Watch

Yesterday a big storm blew through Central Texas and our county was under a tornado watch. I decided to give the girls a quick lesson about what we should do if there was ever a tornado. I told them that if I suddenly called for them to go to their bathroom (the center of the house/no windows) during a big storm that they'd need to move quickly. Ainsley asked if we'd be able to get our 72 hour kit and some of the things from their rooms first. I told her if there was time we would get the 72 hour kit but that the most important thing would be to get to the bathroom.

The prospect of possibly losing their belongings in a tornado was more than they could bear so while Landon and I started making dinner the girls took matters into their own hands. A short while later I was summoned into their bathroom and found this . . .

all of their favorite belongings piled up in the bathtub. I suppose I should have mentioned that they would need to be occupying the bathtub in the event of a tornado.

Spring Break

Ainsley came home from school yesterday complaining that she was the only one in her class who didn't go somewhere fun for Spring Break last week. We didn't take a vacation but I didn't think Spring Break was that bad. I will admit though, that it did start out a little rocky.

Usually when all three kiddos are together things go pretty well. There are fights here and there as would be expected from any siblings but nothing too terrible. That was not the case this time. I spent the first part of the week refereeing one fight after another. I was pretty much ready to pull my hair out or maybe just take an extended vacation by myself. But instead we went to the Nature Center in Austin, played in the sprinklers, and learned how to use a Knifty Knitter.
Kaylee is making a hat for herself and Ainsley is making a hat for her doll. So there you have it. We didn't go on a family vacation for Spring Break this year but we still had a good time.

When a Boy Has Two Sisters

The girls had a great time with this one.  I'd feel bad for the little guy but he seems to take it all in stride. I do wonder how long he'll put up with it though. For now I think he just likes to be included.
