Graduation

On August 14th I finally became a college graduate! I am so grateful that Chris' mom talked me into attending Commencement. It was really exciting to see my name in the program and realize that, yeah I really was graduating! Anyone who knows me well knows what a burden it was to be so close, yet so far from graduating. I now feel like I have the choice whether or not I want to further my education, but I'm no longer pressuring myself to go back to school. It feels great! Now, on with the pictures!

After graduation the kids were acting like a bunch of goofballs, and we ended up with some pretty hilarious photos. We came home with a lot of pictures but the funny ones are my favorites.

Of course we ate lunch at the Cougareat! I remember eating at the Cougareat when I was Landon's age and my dad was finishing his degree at BYU. It was more like a cafeteria and not a bunch of fast food restaurants when I was a kid. I actually remember eating their awesome burritos when my parents would take me there. After lunch we toured the campus for awhile. I had to show my kids the GIANT set of stairs I walked up and down every day to get to school. After finishing up one last set of pictures, we headed to my cousin Kelli's house for a barbecue. What a great day!

Good Grief!

Today Landon and Kaylee were playing "Lite Brite" together. Kaylee was making cute little airplanes all over it, and Landon was just kind of watching her. I left the room for a moment and when I came back, Kaylee said with a giggle, "Mom, Landon just said my airplanes are stupid." My response to this was, "Landon that's not a very nice thing to say. Do you like to say things that aren't nice to other people?" His reply, "But Mom, I don't want to have any friends. I just want to be on my own."

And, while we're talking about Landon . . . last Saturday he was up and out of bed some time during the wee hours of the morning. I heard Kaylee get up around 6:20am, and when she didn't come into our room (very not like Kaylee), I decided I'd better drag my tired body out of bed to see where she'd roamed off to. When I walked into the living room there was Landon sprawled out on the couch with the TV remote in his hand watching an infomercial for some back support product - Kaylee was on the other couch questioning his choice of TV show. What am I going to do with that boy?
