Ainsley is Nine!

I'm finally getting around to writing about Ainsley's ninth birthday! I can't believe this is her last year in the single digits. She's now considered a "tween" at the YMCA, and gets to go hang out with the bigger kids. Scary! It's hard to believe that this cute little peanut . . .

has become this little lady.

This year Ainsley chose to go out to dinner with a friend instead of having a party, so the Saturday before her birthday we went to Gattiland for dinner,

Chuck E Cheese's for games,

(Landon loved this game)

and home for dessert (brownie sundaes) and a movie

Ainsley had the day off from school on her birthday this year (Martin Luther King Jr.) and had lots of fun bragging about her birthday being the reason for school closures. I decided I'd let her invite a couple of friends over for a little get together (not a party mind you) since she was home for the day.

They made pizza

Played a game

Ate dessert

Got a little crafty

Rocked out

And had a fun time

That night we made a steak dinner (her choice), opened presents, and ate birthday cake.

Kaylee painted and gave this to Ainsley (100% her idea)

Kit's (last year's birthday present) best friend Ruthie

My mom picked out these candles (they're like sparklers) when she was here for my birthday. I thought they were a lot of fun, so I picked some up for Ainsley. I had no idea she was scared of them. Whoops!

All in all it was a fun extended birthday weekend. Happy ninth birthday Ainsley! We love you!

Kaylee Got Bangs

When Ainsley ran out of Kaylee's room Saturday to tell me that Kaylee just cut her hair I wasn't surprised. She's just that kind of kid. So artsy, and always wanting to create new things. She was caught in the act too soon to do any real damage (I actually don't even know where she snipped). When asked why she would do such a thing she replied, "I want bangs." She's been thinking about it for awhile, so I decided it was time. She didn't want to wait to schedule a hair appointment because she had complete faith in my abilities (obviously she doesn't remember when I gave Landon his first haircut), and she wanted it done "NOW". I think it turned out cute, and Kaylee is thrilled that she now has bangs.

Hosed

I really need to write about Ainsley's birthday, and I will soon. Hopefully this weekend. But tonight it's all about Landon.

It was bath time, and he was refusing to get into any kind of water (bath, shower, sink, you name it) claiming that he only liked cold water. I decided I'd teach him a lesson and told him if he wanted cold water I'd take him out in the backyard and hose him off. He stripped down to nothing and accepted my challenge. What?! That wasn't supposed to happen! I then had to backtrack and tell him we really couldn't do that. It turned into a huge battle, and he followed me around the house begging to get hosed off. I decided to let him loose in the backyard (remember he's completely naked) just so he could see how cold it was. He went straight for the water, and tried to get it going. Finally after much arguing I thought what the heck let's hose him off, so we did. He froze and eventually begged for a bath while the girls were watching him through the window howling with laughter.

What would life be like without my three sillies?
