First Day of School

Our Three Sillies started school yesterday. Ainsley sported her panda shirt (her favorite animal), Kaylee got a layered haircut so she can rock her curls this year, and Landon decided to show some school spirit by wearing his Gateway t-shirt. Landon is so ready for school. The girls are too. I am not. It was so hard for me to leave them.

When we got to Landon's classroom he found his table, sat down, and started building a play dough dog right away. He was happy to have his friend in his class and his teacher seems so nice. The kiddos all had a great day!

Today was day two. It was still hard for me to drop them off. When we got to Landon's building he said, "Mom, I need to go to the bathroom, but I can go take care of that and get myself to class. What?! It's only the second day

Hangin' Out in Cali Part V (Monterey)

Before heading home to Texas, we trekked down to Monterey for a day. I've decided I want to live in Monterey. It's been years since I've been there, and I'd forgotten how pretty it is. Should've been a Marine Biologist, but then again my little family might never have come into existence had I chosen that path.

Once we arrived in Monterey we stopped at a state beach to have a picnic lunch. The water was so blue that day! Not more than a couple minutes after arrival we noticed a few dolphins swimming in the waves. Then all of a sudden there was this huge pod of dolphins! I ran back to the car, grabbed a camera, and barreled down a sand dune to try and capture some pictures. Unfortunately, by the time I got down to the water there were only a few stragglers left - they were fast! They were so close to shore, I felt like jumping in with them. Swimming with dolphins is something I've wanted to do forever. I don't want to swim with penned dolphins though. I just want to jump into the ocean and swim with dolphins in the wild

After we ate, we headed to the Aquarium!

We spent the entire day at the aquarium and were pretty beat at closing time. Landon was so sad when it was time to leave. Plus he was tired and hungry. Actually, we were all hungry, so we headed to Bubba Gump Shrimp Company for dinner. I ordered the best salad ever! It was called the Pear & Berry Salad, and I'm determined to re-create it. In fact I will be attempting the re-creation for dinner tomorrow night. Hopefully I'll be able to find a good raspberry vinaigrette when I go grocery shopping in the morning. We had such a wonderful time in California this summer! Lots of good times with our family. We love them!

Hangin' Out in Cali Part IV (Going Places)

We decided to check out the Tech Museum in San Jose this year. It was a great museum to visit, and we all had a blast. My kids are really interested in what state flags look like, so they were excited to see the California flag. We'd had no luck finding a CA flag while out and about. We were a little surprised because in Texas if there's a United States flag (which there are many) there's bound to be a Texas flag flying right next to it. Must be a Texas thing. It was a fun Day!

We, of course, went to Gilroy Gardens one day. This year turned out to be kind of a bummer for Kaylee. She started feeling sick after about three rides. So, after the three rides I ended up taking her home. Poor kiddo. Everyone else stayed and had a good time though!

Chris and my dad took the kids to the Jelly Belly Factory a few days before our trip back to Texas. We needed Bertie Botts for our game!

Hangin' Out in Cali Part III (The Yarbroughs)

Chris's mom has had the hope of having a family get together where all three of her boys are there for quite a few years now. This year she got her wish and a family picture to boot!
