McKinney Falls

Back at the end of May when it was starting to get hot, but not so hot you could fry an egg on the sidewalk, we took a trip to McKinney Falls. Texas is having a terrible drought right now, so the "falls" weren't very impressive. We were able to walk across the area that should have had water tumbling down into the pool below. It was kind of sad to see stagnant puddles instead of the flowing water that should have been there, but the park was still really nice even without the waterfalls.

After walking on the waterless rocks we took a short hike. All three kids were awesome hikers. I thought for sure Landon would ask to be carried after five minutes, but he led us almost the entire hike and never asked for a ride.

We then went to the lower falls and actually found some running water. The kids took off their shoes and got wet. Kaylee and Landon ended up in their t-shirts and underwear. Ainsley really wanted to rid herself of her shorts as well, but we decided she's a little too old to be running around in her underwear. While they were playing, a couple with their dog came walking back from a hike. Kaylee ran right over, asked if she could pet their dog, and played with it until the couple needed to leave - that's so Kaylee. It was a fun little day trip! We'll definitely be back, and next time we'll have our swimming suits with us.
