Snowboarding New Mexico

A few months before Spring Break we asked Landon if there was anything he would like to do for a few days during his time off. He told us he would really love to go snowboarding. That day (I too was thrilled at the prospect of going snowboarding) I started checking snow pack and the best/closest resort we could go to to have a descent experience. Northern New Mexico seemed like the place. After much planning, Landon and I were all set.

The little cabin we booked in Eagle Nest, New Mexico was awesome, and our few days there were a lot of fun. Landon picked up snowboarding pretty quickly, and I got most of my muscle memory back after an hour or so. No major injuries were acquired and memories were made.

We stayed in a little town called Cimarron our last night in New Mexico where we visited the National Scouting Museum, ate some of the best grilled cheese and skillet cookies we'd ever had, and went stargazing in the middle of nowhere in the dead of night.

When our trip had come to an end, we were supposed to drive halfway home and stay the night in Lubbock, but we were ready for our own beds. We ended up driving 12 hours straight with a very brief pit stop at Palo Duro Canyon State Park. Even if we had wanted to hike at Palo Duro we couldn't have because I had accidentally left my hiking shoes in Cimarron.

What an adventure! I am happy to have been able to make some fun memories with Landon before he journeys out into the great big world in just over a year. Hopefully we will be able to create a few more rad memories before he heads off to college.
