Chris and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary on October 29th. For the past three months or so I've known he was planning a secret trip, but the only details I had were that his parents were coming to watch the kids, we would be flying somewhere, and entertainment was planned. He also gave me a weather forecast a few days before, so I would know what to pack. The kids and I guessed and guessed and guessed some more, but he's the best keeper of secrets I've ever known. It wasn't until we reached our terminal at the airport that I found out we were headed to Las Vegas.
We had a blast! He booked a room at the Venetian. It was by far the nicest hotel on the Strip, and the nicest hotel I've ever stayed at. It was so fancy and our room was luxurious. I figured out pretty quickly that our main entertainment would be seeing The Phantom of the Opera - It wasn't too hard, considering there were huge signs advertising it all over the hotel, and the theater was right next to the elevator that took us to our room.
The first day we were in Vegas we walked until we had blisters on our feet. Chris had compiled a list of attractions at various hotels along the Strip, and we hit many of them during that first day. Of course we had to stop at M&M's World (a four story M&M's store). We found some great pjs for the kids there.
Our second day was a lot more low key. We were both limping and cringing at the thought of shoving our sore feet into shoes, so we took it slow and stayed close to our hotel. We still had a lot of fun and even got to see a baby dolphin and some baby tigers. So cute! That evening we dressed up and went to a fancy dinner at a restaurant called "Woo". The food was really tasty. We then headed to the theater to see The Phantom of the Opera. It did not disappoint. I've seen it twice in San Francisco, read the book and own the movie. It's one of my favorites, and I enjoyed it as much as I did the first time I saw it.
We flew back to Texas the next day wishing we could stay just a little bit longer. It was so nice to take a vacation together - just the two of us. It's hard to believe Chris and I have been married for 10 years! We've definitely been through enough to fill 10 years though. We've had good time and we've had hard times, but through it all we've stuck together and grown stronger together. Chris will always be the love of my life. I couldn't have asked for someone better. Plus I really think he's the only guy who could put up with some of my quirks! Thanks for an awesome vacation Chris, and here's to another 10 years!
