October

I have definitely been jumping back and forth between now and our summer vacation, but I don't want to get too far behind on our present goings on. Guess I'll just keep dropping California entries in between more current posts, haha. Just like every other month lately, October was busy. A few of the highlights included a belt test, a field trip, a party and Halloween (of course).

Since Kaylee only started her Judo lessons in September, we were surprised when one of her Senseis told us she was ready to belt test for her yellow belt. She was super excited and had fun testing. They have a tradition that once you earn a new belt, the old one gets tucked into the back of your Gi - hence the picture of Kaylee's back with a white belt stuffed under her yellow belt.

Landon's first grade class went on a field trip to a farm/pumpkin patch in mid October. He enjoyed painting a pumpkin, shucking corn, feeding goats and much more!

Chris and I decided to let Kaylee have a Halloween party this year. We ate pizza, played games and decorated cookies. Ainsley invited a friend over that night, and they joined in the games too!

We finally figured out the kid's costumes. Fortunately they weren't too hard to put together. Kaylee did end up being Tonks because we found a perfect jacket and shirt at Goodwill. Since Kaylee was Tonks, Landon decided to be Harry Potter. Ainsley has gotten into Jane Austen over the last few months and decided to be Miss Elizabeth Bennet.

Oh yeah! We carved pumpkins too. Ainsley refused any pictures of or with her pumpkin because she didn't like what she'd carved. She's not a big fan of pumpkin guts, so carving isn't her favorite Halloween activity. Landon just wanted holes all over his pumpkin, so Chris pretty much took care of that project. And, Kaylee carved a cat face. That's about it for October. I suppose I'll be writing about November shortly. Crazy how it's almost Thanksgiving!
