She was also excited to be given her very own violin. Thank you Grandma and Grandpa Gadd! She's been taking lessons for a little over a year and loves playing the violin. Since she'd proven that she was going to stick to it, we decided the time had come to stop renting and make the purchase.
Kaylee spent the evening of her birthday at home with us and her friend Sara. She didn't want to go out to dinner, so we made burritos. She chose a pound cake with whipped cream and strawberries for dessert, and that pretty much summed up her birthday. It was a super low-key 13th birthday which was exactly what she wanted.
Happy 13th birthday Kaylee! Your sweet yet somewhat mischievous personality is a joy to have in our family. It's pretty hard to believe you're already a teenager. I'm not sure that I like that you've grown up so fast, but I suppose I don't get a choice in the matter. We love you!

Kaylee's looking so grown up, sigh. I love the expression you caught when she saw the Phantom ticket.
