Back to School?

Just like pretty much everything else this year, back to school looked completely different than anything we've ever experienced. The first three weeks were completely online, and after that students had the option to keep learning from home or head back to school. Landon really wanted to go back to school and Kaylee wasn't sure. Ultimately we decided to keep them both home because the in class learning experience didn't look very appealing to us. It was not going to be a normal learning environment, and we decided that if they were going to be learning online anyway, they may as well stay home. The school year started off a bit rocky, but we've all grown used to the "new normal" (I hate that phrase by the way) and things are going pretty well.

Even though Kaylee is schooling from home, she still gets to go to her school for soccer practice. She is enjoying playing and is even driving herself to and from practice! She's building more driving confidence and has also driven herself to our allergist and Hobby Lobby. She didn't even want to learn how to drive, but she is now learning how freeing it is to be able to drive herself around town. Despite these crazy times, I have noticed quite a bit of growth in Kaylee over the last several months. She seems more confident and ready to tackle what life has in store for her. It has been fun to watch her grow and it is so hard to believe she is in her junior year of high school!

Landon is enjoying his freshman year at his new school (Early College High School) and loves that Fridays are club days. He is currently in a game design and drawing club, but he gets to bounce around to different clubs when he wants to. He also recently joined a fencing club (outside of school). So far he loves it, and I love that he comes home sweaty from working out for a couple of hours twice a week. He has also continued his piano lessons and is sounding better and better when he plays.

We are about to decide if the kiddos will be heading back or continuing to stay home for the next nine weeks of school. I am guessing we'll decide to keep them home because I don't think the in person learning environment is going to be back to normal for at least awhile longer, but only time will tell.
