We had a little bit of a later start to Halloween this year due to Kaylee's college trip, but once we got home it was Halloween time. Costumes were a lot of fun. I made Kaylee a Daphne costume to go with her trunk-or-treat Scooby-Doo theme at school. She and a friend decorated our van, and the Scooby-Doo gang passed out candy to the elementary kids. Super cute.
Landon the creator of costumes was a wizard this year. He planned what he wanted his costume to look like, and we constructed it based off of his design. He helped me with the pattern and fabric cutting and did the gold embroidery himself! It turned out just how he had envisioned. Uncle John said he looked "really cool" in his costume.
We watched spooky old timey movies all month, carved pumpkins, and made cutout cookies which turned out kind of meh because I accidentally put baking soda instead of baking powder in them. They were really puffy and overly salty. I told Kaylee we could have a redo at Christmas. Alice the Bunny participated in some of the festivities too! She fell in love with our Skeleton Jack pumpkin and dressed up as Wonder Woman. We also tried a new Halloween dinner recipe. Mummy calzones!
Halloween. I've decided it's my favorite holiday and Christmas is my favorite season. I really love Thanksgiving too! It's the whole holiday season for me. We kick it off with Halloween and end with ringing in the New year. This week is Thanksgiving and then on to Christmas. Lots of time for family, fun, and remembering what matters most. We enjoy those things all year, but there's definitely something special about this time of year. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
