Volleyball and T-ball and Soccer Oh My!

Fall is here, and all three of our kids are playing a sport this season. It's a bit overwhelming with so many practices, but watching them play is fun. They're all playing a different sport at the YMCA. We've never played with the YMCA before, but we're finding we really like the way they run their sports.

Ainsley played her second game of volleyball this week. Her team name is the Horned Frogs and, no they did not pick out that name. Each team is given a name before the first practice. She didn't know anyone on her team beforehand but is making some new friends. At this age, most of the players have a hard time hitting the ball over the net, including Ainsley, but she's having fun regardless. She actually has really nice aim. She just needs to practice putting a little more power into it. It's cute to watch them play!

Kaylee decided to try her hand at T-ball and is one of two girls playing on "The Scrappers". I was a bit worried that she'd be upset having so many boys on her team, but she seems to really like playing and is fitting right in with the guys. It also doesn't hurt that she has an extremely nice coach. Today was her first game because last week got rained out. They don't keep score at her age. Every team has two turns at bat and everyone bats each time. It was funny to watch. Most ran to base with bat in hand, and when the ball was hit it usually ended in a dog pile of kids trying to get it (Kaylee included). After the last batter anyone who was on base got to run home. They are learning the basic principles of baseball, while having lots of fun. And, Kaylee even tagged someone out at second today!

I don't even know where to begin with Landon. Watching him play soccer is one of the most hilarious things I've witnessed in awhile. It's pretty darn cute too. His team name is "The Blackhawks", and Chris is coaching them. They too had their first game today due to a rain out last weekend. Everything started out just fine and dandy. Warm up went great and once the game started, Landon scored two goals. But then the pouting began. About half way through the game, Landon decided he'd had enough of soccer and wanted to play on the playground that was so strategically placed right next to the field. I told him he could play after his game was over. His response was that he didn't want to play on a soccer team anymore, he wanted to play on a playground team. After a little convincing he did go back out (by then Chris was having a hard time getting any of his twelve players on the field), but he started to get irritated when there were too many kids going after the ball at once. In the end there were smiles and snacks for the team. I guess we'll see how the rest of the season goes, hahaha.

Ainsley looks so grown up...sigh. I told her volleyball is a beach sport better played in California! Kaylee is adorable in her baseball gear with her pony tail hanging out of the back of her hat. And Landon with his baggy shorts and soccer legs is one of a kind!!!
