Gobble! Gobble! Gobble!
There has been a wild turkey running around our neighborhood for about a week. We keep hearing it, but the only one who has seen it is Chris -- that is until this morning. I woke up to the sound of a gobbling turkey. It sounded close (like it was right outside Kaylee's window), so Landon and I went outside to investigate. It was still pretty dark, and we couldn't find it. We went inside to tell Chris about it, and he jokingly suggested that maybe it was on the roof. Ha! Ha! Ha! We thought. Turkey's don't fly, right? Wrong. Landon and I went back outside to look for it, and there it was on our roof! Then, as if that wasn't enough, while I was making lunches Ainsley yells, "Mom! the turkey is in our backyard!" And there it was walking around our patio. It kept fluffing its tail feathers and Landon and Kaylee fell in love (Ainsley thought it was ugly). They both wanted to keep it for a pet. We explained that a wild turkey wouldn't be happy living in our backyard. They sadly watched as Chris gently herded it out to the front. It's not at our house anymore, but it is still running around the neighborhood.

He he! That's awesome...and a little creepy! Why is a wild turkey roaming the streets of urban Texas??! Too funny!
That's so funny he was on your roof! We used to see wild turkeys in Iowa. They are pretty ugly!
Is that what the heck that was? I heard the turkey the other morning and thought, "weird bird, so dang loud" but didn't even think it could possibly be a turkey, I wonder if it escaped from that farm right beside our neighborhood on 3406, or by the Wassans there are 8 horse farms back in there. Could be from one of those too. Neat that it was in your yard and the kids got to see it though!
That is hilarious!
