Hangin' Out in Cali Part V (Monterey)

Before heading home to Texas, we trekked down to Monterey for a day. I've decided I want to live in Monterey. It's been years since I've been there, and I'd forgotten how pretty it is. Should've been a Marine Biologist, but then again my little family might never have come into existence had I chosen that path.

Once we arrived in Monterey we stopped at a state beach to have a picnic lunch. The water was so blue that day! Not more than a couple minutes after arrival we noticed a few dolphins swimming in the waves. Then all of a sudden there was this huge pod of dolphins! I ran back to the car, grabbed a camera, and barreled down a sand dune to try and capture some pictures. Unfortunately, by the time I got down to the water there were only a few stragglers left - they were fast! They were so close to shore, I felt like jumping in with them. Swimming with dolphins is something I've wanted to do forever. I don't want to swim with penned dolphins though. I just want to jump into the ocean and swim with dolphins in the wild

After we ate, we headed to the Aquarium!

We spent the entire day at the aquarium and were pretty beat at closing time. Landon was so sad when it was time to leave. Plus he was tired and hungry. Actually, we were all hungry, so we headed to Bubba Gump Shrimp Company for dinner. I ordered the best salad ever! It was called the Pear & Berry Salad, and I'm determined to re-create it. In fact I will be attempting the re-creation for dinner tomorrow night. Hopefully I'll be able to find a good raspberry vinaigrette when I go grocery shopping in the morning. We had such a wonderful time in California this summer! Lots of good times with our family. We love them!

There was only a slight tremor in the 'force' of the day--Loan was missing. Otherwise it was one of those perfect days that dad and I will remember forever. We're so lucky to be able to count our children, their spouses and our grandchildren as our best friends in life.
