California 2009 - Part VII

Tilden Park

When the girls were staying with Chris' parents, my mom and I (my dad had to work) decided to take Landon on an outing all by himself. Since he loves trains we chose to take him to Tilden Park in Berkeley. There's a little steam train that runs through part of the park, and we thought Landon would love it. He did. After the train ride we went to another part of the park to have a picnic. While we were eating our lunch Ainsley and Kaylee suddenly appeared. It turns out Chris' parents had also decided to take a trip to Tilden Park. Out of all the things to do in the Bay Area we ended up in the same place at the same time! We spent a little bit of time with them, but tried to go our separate way pretty quickly. We didn't want to interrupt the girls' time with their grandparents. The park is really big, but even after we'd moved on, we kept seeing them. Towards the end of our day we discovered an awesome botanical garden. It was huge, and we wished we'd found it sooner. Since Landon loves to hike it was a perfect place for him to walk around without the possibility of encountering poison oak.  The weather was so nice that day. It was perfect for being outdoors - especially after coming from Texas!
